Construction Update: Scaffolding begins to enclose the spires; new flooring for the Choir Loft

The Roof Project

The team at Executive Exteriors continues to receive truckloads of scaffolding. They are beginning to enclose one of the small spires with scaffolding. When the scaffolding construction is complete, roofers will strip off the copper-foil shingles and replace them with solid copper shingles.

The roofers are using a combination of ladders, stairs, and an elevator to move materials. The two towers on the front facade are connected by a bridge. The bridge makes it easier for workers to pass scaffolding from the stairs or elevator on the right tower to the left one.

New Flooring for the Choir Loft

Now that the organ case is painted to match the rest of the church’s interior, it’s time to update the floor. The tiered floor was installed in 1984 and is made of plywood sheets painted brown.

Workers sanded the stairs leading to the choir loft.

Future posts will show the flooring as it is installed.
